From the time we started Five Stones Camp, we knew two components would be needed to maximize our rescue ministry among troubled inner city teen boys.
FIRST―an intense, 6-week summer camp program designed to evangelize and disciple the young men God brought our way.
SECOND―a 9-month residential Academy that provides Christian education and a “home” environment that allows the boys to be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
While our camping ministry has few growth limitations, our Academy tops out at only 15 students. Academy students require 24/7 supervision which means we need to keep the student/teacher ratio near 5:1.
The problem is…we’ve been unable to add Academy staff due to the lack of housing. There are scores of troubled, forgotten & unwanted boys whose only chance at a future is getting a Christian education and upbringing at Five Stones Academy. We currently have the house frames, however there is much more we need. Here is a list of the materials and services needed to complete these staff homes:
Septic system installed
Foundation dug and poured
Foundation block walls laid
Garage floor poured
Walls and floor joists and trusses framed up
Roof decking and wall sheathing applied
Exterior doors installed
Electrical wiring installed
Sub floors installed
Drywall hung and finished
Exterior siding installed
Roof papered and shingled
Gutters and downspouts installed
Vanities, sinks, toilets and tubs set
Kitchen cabinets set
Interior doors hung
Walls and ceilings painted
Electrical devices installed (outlets, lights, data, cable)
Thankfully, these 3 homes will provide housing for enough staff to expand the Academy to 45 students which offers more opportunities to reach boys for Christ!
