25 Aug Staff Testimony : Shannon
My name is Shannon Handy. I am the Men’s Shelter Director at Good News Ministries. I live here in Indianapolis with my beautiful wife, Chastity, and our three wonderful children: Joy (13), Leah (11), and Noah (6). We attend and actively serve the Lord at Faith Baptist Church of Avon.
In April of 2016, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was eagerly looking for employment when my mother-in-law mentioned that the mission was looking to hire someone for the business office. Upon accepting the part-time position, I knew right away that Good News was no ordinary workplace. The care and compassion for lost and hurting souls was clearly evident.
Little did I know that God had even more planned for me. Since then, the Lord has used the eighteen years of experience in inner-city church ministry and the willingness to obey His call upon my life to provide an opportunity for me to serve as the full-time Director of the Men’s Shelter. Both spiritually and vocationally I get to have a daily role in the lives of the less fortunate. Since God’s word is at the heart of everything we do here, I can offer a hope through Christ that can effect permanent change in their lives.
Every day I am thankful for the opportunity to do what I love as well as create relationships that last for eternity. God has used Good News to stretch me and my family spiritually beyond anything I ever thought possible. I am excited about what the Lord is doing in my life and the lives of others!
