The start of a new semester always brings fresh energy to the Boys Home. Books open, routines settle in and our chapel services are the heartbeat of daily life. We were so grateful last week to have Evangelist Todd Monaghan with us sharing in multiple chapel sessions. Each day he challenged the young men from God’s Word and pointed them to Christ.

Already, God is at work. Two young men made the most important decision of their lives, trusting Christ as Savior!

Meet Marcus. His journey hasn’t been easy. At home, he often resisted direction and found himself at odds with authority. Schoolwork didn’t hold his interest, and relationships were hard to navigate. He could do well for a short time, but discouragement and frustration quickly crept in.

But everything began to change when the Gospel took root in his heart! Marcus is still learning, but now he has a new foundation to build on. He’s seen Jesus at work in his parents’ lives, and now he’s excited to experience that same peace of knowing God is with him.

This past week, Marcus reached Tier 1 of our promotion program and he’s especially excited to start Heavy Equipment class where he’ll have the chance to operate multiple pieces of machinery for high school credit. He also faced one of his fears on a trip to King’s Island, riding his first big rollercoaster, a memory made possible thanks to generous donors who sponsored the outing.

We know Marcus’s story isn’t finished yet, and there will be challenges along the way. But we celebrate this step of faith and the new direction it represents. Please continue to pray for Marcus and for all our Boys Home students, that they will keep growing in grace and discovering the joy of walking with Christ each day.

Marcus also asks for a specific prayer request: that he will be able to pass Algebra. Math isn’t his favorite subject, but he is determined to work hard and do his best.
The semester is just beginning, but already we are seeing God’s hand at work in the Boys Home. What a reminder that He is still in the business of changing lives!
