A Servant’s Heart
Rachel is a registered nurse employed at a nearby Indianapolis hospital, and has been a volunteer in our Health Clinic since 2014. After graduating from Purdue, Rachel’s desire was to use her skills in some form of Christian Ministry. Initially she wanted to travel overseas to help impoverished nations, but lacked the funding to do so consistently.
“I wanted to be able to serve God and serve my community without having to raise money and travel.”
That’s when Rachel found Good News Ministries through a simple Google search for free health clinics. She takes joy in being able to help the impoverished and uninsured people who visit our clinic, and finds it a great change of pace from her regular work. Rachel had this to say about her experience,
“All the patients here are very thankful and generous, very lovely people, it’s a breath of fresh air to be here.”
Volunteering in our Health Clinic provides immense personal satisfaction, helps nurses grow in their profession and allows the opportunity to wear many different hats. We are in need of more nurses willing to help, and with many different clinic hours available it’s easy to get involved.
