In 2019, we introduced you to Jeff. At the time he was struggling with both his physical and spiritual health. We are happy to update you on his progress and share that Jeff is moving out of our Men’s Shelter!

We have been working to get him on Medicare and Disability, then into an assisted living center so he can get the care he needs. While we are able to provide shelter, meals and free medical services through our clinic, Jeff needs a little more focused attention in order to stay on track with his health. After residing four years in our Men’s Shelter, Jeff says he is excited for the opportunity to move into assisted living.

“When I came to the mission, I was really struggling. My parents had both died recently and my marriage was falling apart. Soon after my separation and divorce, I became homeless and my health was deteriorating. Good News has helped me stay sober and get my cigarette addiction under control. This place is also where I found peace. I got saved and the Lord and my counselors have really taught me how to deal with all the pain without turning back to my addictions. In 2019 I ended up in the hospital because I couldn’t breathe.  The doctor told me I had to quit smoking or I would die. Thanks to the guidance of my counselors and my faith, I haven’t had a drink in three years and I haven’t had a cigarette since 2019!
Good News Men’s Shelter is a good place that helped me find peace in the Lord, but I am very excited to be taking this next step and moving out. “

Our Men’s Shelter program is designed to be flexible according to the individual needs of the men who walk through our doors. Whether it is a short-term stay as they get back on their feet or a long-term stay to address serious addictions and other issues, we are always ready to provide a helping hand to homeless men. We often see them leave with the readiness to once again be self-sufficient and many with a new-found faith and hope in Jesus Christ.
