From Jail To Justification

How can trouble with the law be a good thing? In Daniel’s case, it led him to Good News Ministries and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
“To tell you the truth, (being arrested) was a blessing,” said the 48-year-old who entered the Men’s Shelter in mid-June. “It brought me here. I was an atheist and didn’t believe in God, but I got saved, lot of my anger went away and I let God take care of everything. I’m putting everything in His hands.”
Daniel’s journey from darkness to the light of the Gospel was long and full of pent-up anger. Molested at age 8 and then losing the father he loved at 14 turned Daniel bitter. He found solace in alcohol, which only made his anger issues worse.
Earlier this year it all came to a head when he got into a fight with his wife, leading to Daniel’s arrest on a charge of domestic violence. When he was released from jail, Daniel checked into a hotel where he learned about Good News Ministries. He came to our Men’s Shelter about two months ago.
During an evening chapel service Daniel felt the Lord tugging at his heart. When the speaker asked if anyone wanted to make a decision for Christ, Daniel went forward. Since then he has been devouring God’s Word, reading his Bible 5 to 6 times a day. He’s also attending church and plans to be baptized.
In the near future Daniel hopes to obtain a driver’s license and get stable employment. He also wants to reconcile with his wife and family. “She didn’t like what I was and became. Now she’s going to see a new man.” A man no longer a prisoner to his past but, rather, freed from sin by the power of God!
