Out Of Harm’s Way

Raised by a father with ties to unscrupulous business partners and a mother arrested for harboring a fugitive, Ty’Aireon easily could have led a life of crime. Instead, a foster family’s influence and the intervention of the Good News Boys Home set his feet on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.

Ty, as he is known by family and friends, is a freshman at the Boys Home Academy. He entered our school straight out of this year’s 40-Day Summer Challenge, where Ty accepted God’s gift of salvation and was baptized two weeks later.

In his new life as a believer, Ty has given up alcohol, cigarettes and pot, and is learning to control his anger. “If I need to calm down I read a scripture,” he said. “There’s a scripture that says, ‘Be angry and sin not’ (Ephesians 4:26). So I follow that.”

Earlier in his life Ty was bounced between his father and mother. His father would take Ty along on trips to deliver cars to men who were suspicious at best. When his mother was arrested, Ty ended up in foster care and was placed with a Christian family. Several years later his mother regained custody and, having heard about a nephew who graduated from our Boys Home Academy, registered Ty for the 40-Day Summer Challenge. He did so well he was invited to enroll in the Academy.

For the first time Ty is taking his schoolwork seriously, making A’s and B’s, and said the Academy teachers & staff have been a big help. “If you need help with scripture or something Biblical or classwork, they’ll always try to make time to help you,” he said. “I really like the energy here and the people here. They are all good Christian men.”

Day by day Ty is becoming the man God wants him to be. Please keep him in your prayers.
