Right Place, Right Time

Laid off and looking at a future with no health insurance, Cynthia was desperate. Thankfully, after an exhaustive internet search, she found the Good News Health Clinic.

“I let my fingers do the work and just kept calling every number and Good News answered the phone. I was like, ‘Thank you God!’ I didn’t have any other way to get my blood pressure medicine.”

At 61, Cynthia still receives primary care through Good News while working temporary jobs. Our volunteer doctors have also helped monitor her blood sugar—diabetes runs in her family—treat her gout, and provide her glasses through our volunteer optometrist.

“When you find people who actually want to help you, especially with things you have no control over, it’s a big relief,” Cynthia said about the Health Clinic staff and volunteers.

Cynthia also loves our Health Clinic’s Christian environment. “I share a faith with them because God is in control of everything,” she said. “All you do is trust in Him and listen to what He is saying. You can walk your path with peace if you give it all to Him instead of trying to do it yourself.”

In Cynthia’s case, the path God placed her on led directly to Good News. She was able to receive the care she needed because healthcare professionals volunteer their time.
