Games, Goodies and the Gospel

March Madness took on a whole new meaning this past week when the Good News Youth Center hosted its annual Spring Youth Rally!
Not only were there 3-point and free throw shooting contests, but also mechanical bull riding, a joust tournament, axe throwing, a Nerf war and the ever-popular car smash ‘n bash. Plenty of prizes, pizza, tacos, Dairy Queen treats and magic shows rounded out the fun—all for the sole purpose of reaching inner-city kids for Jesus Christ.
Over the two nights of our rally, close to 160 kids attended, with 31 being first-time visitors, and 22 young people trusted Christ as their Savior!
Jade and Yahir were two who accepted Christ. “It was a decision from my heart,” said Jade. She added, “I like the way people are here at the Youth Center. They are very friendly.” Yahir said he asked Jesus into his heart so that he could go to Heaven one day.
E.J. also accepted Christ and said he no longer wants to use bad language and desires to live a more godly life. “I want to sacrifice myself for Christ.”
Both nights magician and evangelist Chase Williams performed illusions, with some illustrating Biblical truths. Christian, a long-time attendee, said Chase’s message, and others he’s heard from coming to the Youth Center many times, speak to him. “There is a different meaningful message every day. They encourage you to get to know Christ as your Savior. Every day, even if you’ve already accepted Him, they teach you more.”
Thank you to the nearly 40 volunteers who helped make the rally a success! Please join us in praying that the kids who attended continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord!
